Rothenburg

This is a little city in the forest on top of a hill. Beautiful views and so quaint. The ride to his little town was breathtaking, panorama views and closed in forest roads surrounded by talling pines and oaks. We couldn;t stop and take pictures, because there were just enough cars on the road to keep us from stopping. The signs are directing you to hotels, restaurants, scenice view points and fresh wells.

Schloss Hirschhorn

Signs directing us to the Schloss Hirschorn. The yellow sign above indicates that the main road is a right-of-way road. Those coming from the side streets must always yield to the cars on the main road. If the road you are on does not have a right-of-way diamond on it the cars coming from the right have the right-of-way.

Castle at Hirschhorn

This is the interior wall of the Fortress Castle outside Hirschhorn.

Forest Road in Hirschhorn

This is the road leading to the old Fortress Castle in Hirschhorn (Stag Antler) near the Neckar River. We went to Michelstadt to inspect the Elder's apartment and on the way back came via te backroads, which was the shortest distance. This was typical of the road we traveled once we left Erbach, next to Michelstadt. So beautiful. Some of the other areas were very dark because the trees were so tall and so close. Most of the trees are straight. They do a wonderful job of taking care of the forest, replenishing, clearing and cutting and replanting. The enviornmentalist in the States would go nuts allowing man to manage the forests. It works and it is so beautiful, peaceful and so clean. They will cut down some trees to thin out the forest and sell the trees to locals, who then come in and cut the tree into smaller pieces and take it back to dry out for the next winter to use in their fireplace, or wood burning stoves.

Gnarly Old Tree

This is in the courtyard of the Erbach Castle. Just looked neat and very unusual.

Erbach Castle Entrance

This is the entrance to the Erbach Castle.

Erbach Castle

This is the old tower from the Erbach Castle in Erbach, Germany. The rest of the building is a facade covering the old walls of the castle.
