Forest Road in Hirschhorn

This is the road leading to the old Fortress Castle in Hirschhorn (Stag Antler) near the Neckar River. We went to Michelstadt to inspect the Elder's apartment and on the way back came via te backroads, which was the shortest distance. This was typical of the road we traveled once we left Erbach, next to Michelstadt. So beautiful. Some of the other areas were very dark because the trees were so tall and so close. Most of the trees are straight. They do a wonderful job of taking care of the forest, replenishing, clearing and cutting and replanting. The enviornmentalist in the States would go nuts allowing man to manage the forests. It works and it is so beautiful, peaceful and so clean. They will cut down some trees to thin out the forest and sell the trees to locals, who then come in and cut the tree into smaller pieces and take it back to dry out for the next winter to use in their fireplace, or wood burning stoves.
